A Brief Artist Statement

The themes that inspire my paintings are subjects that we see all around us. My creative being has always been aroused by the locale, persuading me to smear their colours on canvas. In the process I deconstruct the images as I see them, trying to place them in a parallel space with an element of surrealism. Each depiction of my paintings is a piece of conversation that speaks out to the observer, calling out to them and inviting them to see a new world - Their world.

My paintings reflect the relationship we enclose with our surrounding and the correlation with other beings. It's a fine mix of colours that speak to the audience telling them how we are all related and yet individuals who are alone at times. I am intrigued by shadows they speak to me of a world that for me is more real than the actual forms. Embarking on our separate journeys, our paths connect with different people on the crossroads. Most of my works are concentrated on this philosophy and I am still trying to explore this concept in my artistic journey I enjoy working with oil as a medium and use computer graphics to create realistic representations with my images. It helps me in creating an integrated piece of art. Space occupies an integral place in my works and it also gives me a new thrust to compose my works in a new direction. While working new areas of interest arise leading to my new compositions.

My works are mostly mixed media on canvas. But I also love to experiment working on paper using different mediums as safety pins, beads, threads, sequins, charcoal, pen, ink, acrylic and water colours. Most importantly, I have incorporated tea stains and dried tea leaves on paper works to bring diversity to my works.

My art is fuelled by the need to create.
